It’s late at night – or, let’s be honest, the wee hours of the morning – and the hunger pangs hit. Maybe it’s a post-party craving, an after-cinema snack or a super late-night dinner, either way, if you feel your stomach rumbling, you don’t need to settle for fast food or servo snacks.

The City is the place to find after-hours food you won’t regret eating. If you get caught out, here are a few spots that keep the burners on until 10pm or later, especially towards the weekend. Further down the list are The City’s best post-midnight feeds and 24/7 dining spots.

Betty’s Burgers, Albert St

Classic burgers and the thickest of thick shakes are a match made in heaven. Betty’s Burgers serves up American-style burgers, crispy onion rings and tasty ice cream .

Grill’d, Wintergarden

Seems like Brisbane can’t get enough of its burgers. Grill’d is always a crowd-pleaser and Australia’s healthy burger joint will make you feel good while satisfying those taste buds of yours. The large burger range is complemented perfectly by the chips which are great fuel for your night out.

Fat Noodle, Treasury Casino & Hotel

Award-winning celebrity chef Luke Nguyen's 100-seater Fat Noodle serves pan-Asian hawker-style food including Nguyen’s own Vietnamese as well as Chinese, Thai and Malaysian cuisine. Stop in for some of the best spring rolls you've ever eaten or a steaming bowl of hot pho to take the edge off a cool night.

Red Hook, Gresham Lane

Red Hook is a tiny diner, take-out spot and bar serving New York-style street food from its wee little kitchen in Gresham Lane. The music is always excellent, the burgers are a gourmet dream and the fries can be loaded if you’re so inclined. Try the classic Brooklyn Cheeseburger, you won't regret it.

Vapiano, Albert Lane

Stuff your face with all the pizza and pasta you can manage at Vapiano. The kitchens of this two-storey restaurant stay open late to make sure you can satisfy those pasta cravings at any time. The prices are as sweet as the desserts.

Walter’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Alice St

Slide into a red leather booth and enjoy a charming slice of New York in Brisbane. Steak is obviously a Walter’s Steakhouse specialty with the meat dry-aged and cut in-house. Bring a friend and tuck into its aged Porterhouse and make sure you leave enough time to order a drink at the bar before or after.

Charmy, Albert St

Super casual Charmy is BYO so you can buy drinks there and crack them open over noodles, Korean-style chicken wings, loaded fries and more. Hot tip, the bottle shop at the back of Charmy is open until midnight every night, making it one of the latest in The City

Cooking Korean hotpot or barbecue with your mates after midnight – what could go wrong!? Head to Funny Funny to grill meat and vegetables over fire or in soup or let the skilled staff do it all and indulge in a late-night fried chicken plate with beer – just like in Seoul.

Jimmy’s on the Mall, Queen Street Mall

Jimmy’s on the Mall has served breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week since 1982. Now that’s commitment! Situated in the middle of Queen Street Mall, the two-storey restaurant is hard to miss and has an extensive menu with a distinctive Eastern influence.

Pig ‘N’ Whistle, King George Square

Need sport at all hours of the day? The Pig ‘N’ Whistle in King George Square is one of the top spots to catch live sports at any hour. It televises major matches plus AFC, UEFA, EPL and Euro League. The late-night supper menu consists of British pub favourites.

Open until 11pm on Friday, 10pm from Tuesday – Thursday, 9pm Monday and Saturday and 8.30pm on Sundays.

Maru, Elizabeth St

The City’s biggest Korean restaurant, Maru, is open until late every day. Just like in Seoul, you can drop in any time for a big bowl of bibimbap, grill your own Korean barbecue of meat and vegetables at your table, munch on Korean-style fried chicken and enjoy more traditional favourites.

Riverbar & Kitchen, Eagle St
